Next steps – Learning from exchanges
On Nov. 2nd 2018 as part of the ietm-meeting (1 – 4 Nov 2018) and together with the festival Politik im freien Theater (1 – 11 Nov 2018) we organise table talks and a discussion about aspects of international cooperation:
No matter whether the starting point is an artistic idea with a strong socio-political reference and the partner is subsequently found or setting off on the sense of like-mindedness and then developing a concept together, artists working transnationally always enter difficult grounds when initializing a cooperation beyond borders. What are their motivations for working in a dialogue beyond curiosity and solidarity? How does a joint concept change on the way? Which new impulses do changing local references introduce into collaborative works? Which aesthetical means do the artists create together to respond to i.e. growing restrictions of artistic work in their respective country? These are some of the questions to be discussed in round tables with artists who recently gained experience in working transnationally – as IETM members, as artists featured in the festival Politik im Freien Theater’or collaborators working within the programme Change of Scene. With Boris Ceko (God’s Entertainment), Urška Brodar (Mladinsko Theatre, Ljubljana), Fabian Lettow and Mirjam Schmuck (kainkollektiv), Vesselin Dimov (ACT Festival Sofia), members of the Open Border Ensemble Munich et al.
